Well that’s one way to make a complaint! Yesterday a tour group consisting of ten tourists from the Chinese mainland opted to spend the night sitting in a Pattaya police station with their suitcases and bags because they were not satisfied with the hotel that their tour operator had checked them in to. Their main complaints were that the accommodation was not up to scratch, not worth the amount of money they had paid and that the security was too lax.

The group told police officers on duty that when they booked their holiday they were led to believe that they would be staying in a five star hotel. Instead the one that their tour guide took them to turned out to be a three star hotel called the LK Paragon Hotel. The tourists complained that they were the victims of a trick and that the China Youth Travel Service, with whom they had booked their trip was deliberately trying to mislead them

It is not clear what the tourists thought that the officers of Muang Pattaya station could do about their plight but it seems that they were very accommodating, even going as far to try and contact the tour guide. However when their attempts at this were unsuccessful, they arranged for the tourist police to take the travelers to a different hotel. Luckily this one turned out to be more satisfactory, so let’s hope that they enjoy the rest of their stay in The Land of Smiles and get some compensation when they get back home!
