Pratunam market is one of the Thailand’s major markets, and is also the largest clothing market of Thailand. It is a primarily a wholesale market and you can save a lot of money here if you buy in bulk. The market offers an eclectic mix of retail outlets as well as outdoor stalls. The market is located at the intersection of Ratchaprarop and Phetburi roads in the district Ratchathewi. The range of merchandise available in this market ranges from clothing, shoes and fashion accessories. A criss cross of small streets and alleys offering mostly clothing is a crazy experience in itself. It is a very different experience from the air conditioned malls of Bangkok but is a definite fun if you are good at haggling your way out with these vendors. The section closer to Petchaburi Road is where you will find a large collection of fancy dress and embroidered costumes. The market’s main target audience is the midlle class and the lower middle class. The famous attractions near to the Pratunam Market are the Baiyoke Sky Hotel and the Baiyoke Tower (another great option famous for its shopping experience). The main highlight of this market is that it is open 24 hours (though the retail outlets open from 10 am to 9 pm in
the night).
