The Samut  Prakarn Crocodile farm located in the Samut Prakarn province is famed the world over for being the largest crocodile farm in the world. It is known to be home to the longest crocodile ever in captivity in the history of wild life.

The huge crocodile named Yai, measures upto six metres (19 feet, 8 inches) in length and weighs up to 1114.27 kilograms (2465 pounds). Yai, is one of the more than 100,000 crocodiles present on this farm. Besides the Herculean number of crocodiles the farm is also home to a lot of other animals like the elephants, snakes, tigers, horses and hippo. One could also buy raw chicken available for $ 2 a bucket to feed these wild crocodiles but need to take special care while feeding these violent creatures as they tend to wrestle amongst each other to fight for the chicken pieces.

The other famous attractions here are the elephant shows – where the elephants dance and also take to the skateboards to amuse the tourist. Also famous are the crocodile wrestling events where Thai trained locals try to wrestle with these endangered species and put their mouth inside these mammoth reptiles to awe the tourist.

In fact, this farm is the best place to experience the trained animal shows. A few other attractions worth exploring are the dinosaur museum and snake park with pythons coiled to each other.  One could also refresh himself by taking elephant rides, taking a train ride or paddling across in one of the paddle boats.

The tickets for this Grand Crocodile farm is 300 bahts for the non Thai adult and 200 bahts for children and the timings are from 8 in the morning to 6 pm in the evening.  One could also buy products made out of crocodile leather as well as tinned crocodile meat available at the farm’s shop.
